Where financial clarity
takes shape.
Mentafund was built around a simple conviction: that understanding your finances should not require a finance degree.
Back to HomeBuilt on the belief that knowledge changes behaviour
Mentafund began in 2016 when a group of practitioners in Singapore's financial services sector noticed a consistent gap — not in product availability, but in individual understanding. Many people had access to financial products yet lacked the foundational context to evaluate them confidently.
The founders spent two years consulting with adult educators, financial planners, and working professionals before designing the first programme. The goal was clear: create learning experiences that respect the participant's existing knowledge, build on it carefully, and avoid the condescension that so often accompanies personal finance content.
Today, Mentafund operates from Cecil Street in Singapore's CBD and has worked with over 800 individuals across its open programmes and corporate engagements. We remain committed to keeping cohorts small, content specific, and sessions genuinely interactive.
Our programmes are not affiliated with any bank, insurer, or investment platform. This independence is not incidental — it is central to what we offer.
Thoughtful education, for real financial decisions
Clarity without simplification
We present complex ideas in accessible language without stripping away the nuance that makes them useful. Oversimplified financial education can be as misleading as none at all.
Context before conclusions
Rather than telling participants what to do, we develop the context that allows them to reach their own informed conclusions. Sound decisions follow from sound understanding.
Respect for the individual
Every participant brings a different background, set of concerns, and financial situation. Our programmes create space for this diversity rather than assuming a standard starting point.
Our Team
A small, experienced team with backgrounds spanning financial planning, adult education, and research.
Rachel Lim
Co-Founder & Lead Educator
With over 14 years in personal finance advisory and adult learning, Rachel leads the design of Mentafund's educational programmes. She holds a Certified Financial Planner designation and has facilitated learning for clients across a wide range of financial backgrounds.
Daniel Tan
Co-Founder & Fixed Income Specialist
Daniel spent a decade in bond markets before transitioning to education. He developed Mentafund's fixed-income curriculum and brings a practitioner's perspective to how bonds and credit instruments are explained and understood by individual investors.
Priya Wee
Advisory Specialist — Women & Wealth
Priya leads the Women and Wealth Advisory programme, drawing on her background in financial counselling and gender-focused policy research. She creates a thoughtful and unhurried environment where each participant's individual circumstances genuinely shape the conversation.
Our Professional Standards
The principles and practices that guide how we develop content, work with participants, and operate as an organisation.
Educational Independence
We have no affiliation with any financial product provider. All curriculum decisions are based on educational merit alone.
Data Privacy
Participant information is handled in accordance with Singapore's PDPA. We collect only what is necessary and never sell or share personal data with third parties.
Curriculum Review
Every programme is reviewed and updated at least twice yearly to reflect changes in Singapore's financial landscape, regulations, and available instruments.
Participant Feedback
All participants receive a post-programme survey. Feedback is reviewed by the team and informs future iterations of content and delivery.
Facilitator Standards
All Mentafund facilitators hold relevant professional qualifications and maintain continuing education in both their subject area and adult learning methodologies.
Regulatory Transparency
We are clear about what our programmes are and are not. Our educational content does not constitute financial advice regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Financial education grounded in Singapore's context
Singapore's financial landscape presents a distinctive combination of opportunities and considerations — from CPF allocation decisions and Singapore Savings Bonds to the interaction between local and global equity markets. Generic personal finance content rarely addresses these specifics with the depth they deserve.
Mentafund's programmes are developed specifically for individuals living and working in Singapore, with examples drawn from instruments, institutions, and regulatory frameworks that participants encounter in their daily financial lives. This local grounding is not merely cosmetic — it shapes how each topic is approached, illustrated, and discussed.
Our educators bring firsthand experience working within Singapore's financial services sector, allowing them to contextualise concepts in ways that are practically relevant rather than theoretically correct. This distinction matters particularly in areas like fixed income, retirement planning, and budgeting under variable income conditions — subjects where general principles can be substantially modified by local conditions.
Over eight years of programme delivery, Mentafund has developed a curriculum structure that balances depth with accessibility. Participants are introduced to concepts progressively, with each session building on the last, and with sufficient time in each programme for individual questions and discussion. The aim is not to produce a standardised understanding, but to give each participant the knowledge they need to engage more confidently with their own financial situation.
